Ski For Cancer has been the premier philanthropy organized by Theta Chi Fraternity at the University of Wisconsin-Madison since 1969. Ski for Cancer has contributed over $475,000 to its primary beneficiary, the MACC Fund, Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer Inc. This is the majority of the total of $600,000 contributed including support for other pediatric cancer related endeavors. The University of Wisconsin’s Theta Chi’s alumni from around the country, some of whom date back to Ski for Cancer’s beginning in 1969, have been incredibly supportive of Ski for Cancer over the years playing a key role in the overall fundraising success.
Starting in 2016, Ski For Cancer expanded into a weeklong series of events meant to raise both funds and awareness for pediatric cancer research. Ski For Cancer 2016 yielded record fundraising of $108,000. Ski For Cancer 2017 will continue to organize a weeklong series of events and hopes to build upon the success of 2016.
Thanks to a longstanding partnership with Cascade Mountain in Portage, Ski For Cancer is able to offer Wisconsin residents and UW-Madison students the opportunity to support the MACC Fund by purchasing discounted skiing, snowboarding and tubing packages, with free transportation to and from Madison provided.
Ski For Cancer is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that will host six separate events to further Ski For Cancer’s mission of raising awareness and funds to combat pediatric cancer. All events take place in Madison, Wis., unless noted otherwise.
