Small Forest’s roots stretch out from the beautiful Door County peninsula in Wisconsin. Songwriting team JEANNE KUHNS and MARYBETH MATTSON sing original tunes and obscure covers across the peninsula and throughout the Midwest. They are played on Simply Folk and Lily Kupbeats Folk Festival Show on WDCB.
JEANNE KUHNS – Singer/Songwriter, Acoustic Guitar, Percussion
Jeanne has released several albums over the last several years with a variety of musicians including her previous band, Lost Mothra. She founded and runs the Woodwalk Concert Series in Door County and also owns Lost Moth Gallery in Egg Harbor, WI where she shows her own acrylic and watercolor paintings as well as the work of guest artists.
MARYBETH MATTSON
Prior to joining Kuhns and Palmer and creating the new band, Small Forest, Mattson released her first album of all original music in 2012, entitled “Relative Hunger,” with Patrick Palmer on bass and Dan Smrz on drums, and featuring Seth Raddatz on lead/electric guitar and Anna Sacks’ harmonies on select tracks.
