The Special Olympics Unified Relay Across America presented by Bank of America, is a once in a lifetime opportunity for America to unite to build communities of respect and inclusion. Over the course of 46 days, in a hand-to-hand exchange, people throughout the nation will carry the Special Olympics Flame of Hope across the country and help deliver it to Los Angeles for the Special Olympics World Games. The Unified Relay will be three simultaneous routes hitting all 50 states and will be led by celebrity and Special Olympics athlete co-captains and supported by law enforcement officers.
Pleasant Prairie, Wis, to LaCrescent, Minn., lap: Sunday, June 14, 2015 – Wednesday, June 17, 2015.
An evening celebration will take place on Monday, June 15 at the Wisconsin State Capitol (N. Hamilton St. Walkway/Corner of E. Mifflin & N. Pinckney) and will begin at 4:30 p.m. with a musical performance by national touring band, Zac Matthews Band. The celebration will include guest speakers Dennis Alldridge, President of Special Olympics Wisconsin, Michael Huebner, Special Olympics Wisconsin World Games Athlete and Jim Palmer, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Professional Police Association (WPPA).
