press release: More than 150 local athletes are training for the 2016 Special Olympics Wisconsin (SOWI)-Region 6 District Aquatics Competition held this weekend on April 23 at Waunakee High School. Twenty-two different swimming events will be held including individual races and relays from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Waunakee High School.
The Aquatics Competition serves as a qualifier for the SOWI State Summer Games held at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point June 9-11, 2016.

Our Fans in the Stands program is a program designed to promote unity and encourage students, friends and families to get together to make posters, banners or organize pep rally’s for Special Olympics athletes in their schools and communities. This event is just one example of how Special Olympics reveals the champion in all of us as athletes, coaches, and volunteers. Through programming in sports, health, education, and community building, Special Olympics is changing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities.
