press release: More than 370 local athletes are training for the 2016 Special Olympics Wisconsin (SOWI)-Region 6 Southern Regional Bowling Tournament held on October 29th. Athletes will be bowling at Bowl-A-Vard Lanes in Madison and Prairie Lanes in Sun Prairie. Athletes will range in age from 8 years old and up and will compete as an Individual, as a Double, or on a 4 person team. The tournament will be broken down into two different shifts from 12:00pm – 5:00pm.
The Southern Regional Tournament serves as a qualifier for the SOWI Southwestern State Bowling Tournament held in Madison and Sun Prairie November 12, 2016.
This event is just one example of how Special Olympics reveals the champion in all of us as athletes, coaches, and volunteers. Through programming in sports, health, education, and community building, Special Olympics is changing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities.
