media release:  If you loved the Scholastic Book Fair in elementary school, you’ll love this 1990s themed party on June 28, which will fundraise for the Madison Reading Project. 

Star 67, Madison’s ultimate throwback band, will perform its high energy nostalgic 1990s/2000s show on June 28 at The Bur Oak, 2262 Winnebago Street. Doors open at 7 p.m., with the show kicking off at 8 p.m. 

A portion of proceeds from the event will benefit the Madison Reading Project, a local nonprofit that connects Madison area kids with free books and literacy resources. 

Founded in 2013, the Madison Reading Project provides free books to local children, offers free books to local educators, stocks Little Free Libraries with reading materials, holds free book fairs and offers programs to spark a love of reading in Madison’s youngest populations. The Madison Reading Project is known for its Big Red Reading Bus, which takes literacy straight to kids in the community. 

“Star 67 is thrilled to support a nonprofit in Madison that puts books directly into kids’ hands,” said Star 67 band member Chris Westberg. “As a teacher, I support this mission.” 

Enjoy all your favorite nostalgic tunes by the Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, blink 182, Paramore, Bowling for Soup, Kelly Clarkson, Lady Gaga, Smash Mouth, Evanescence, Fall Out Boy, Jimmy Eat World, and many other artists. 

Throwback Nights are a party experience, with themed cocktails, a 90s/00s photobooth with props and the raddest decorations. Costumes encouraged, the wackier the better.

Star 67 is a Madison-based cover band, born out of a collective love for the 1990s and early 2000s. With more than 7 years of experience as a band, Star 67 has played all the iconic Madison stages, including the High Noon Saloon, Majestic Theater and various festivals. Whether the band is performing upbeat 90s songs or emo kid classics, Star 67 brings the energy to every performance.
