Wisconsin labor and community organizations host “Stop the Hate: Build People’s Unity” rally Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024 at 1 P.M. at Library Mall at UW Madison, followed by a march down State Street for a speak out at Capitol Square.
This event is sponsored by the People’s Unity Coalition and the Wisconsin Bail Out the People Movement and supported by the Wisconsin Coalition for Justice in Palestine, and many other organizations.
Our unified presence is a challenge to the rising threat of nazism and white nationalism in our state, and asserts our insistence on ending the US-backed genocide in Palestine.
Right wing hate groups mobilize islamophobia and anti-Semitic attacks, and target marginalized people including Muslims, Jews and members of the LGBTQ community.
Right-wing state legislators, who clamored to "stand with Israel" after October 7 and continue to support the ensuing genocide against the Palestinian people, create a climate of hate that encourages Nazi activities.
As scholar and organizer Harsha Walia writes, "Ethnonationalist states such as Israel, founded on violent dispossession and separation, serve as models for white power organizations."
These legislators support costly and endless aid to the apartheid regime in Israel, making the current genocide in Palestine possible. We call on our elected representatives to support an immediate, permanent ceasefire and the return of all Palestinian prisoners and hostages.
Join us and bring your friends, neighbors, fellow students and co-workers on Feb. 10 to resist hate and build a stronger, more engaged people's movement in Madison and beyond.
We demand that money be invested in our communities, not on genocides and endless wars.
Let it be known that Wisconsin stands for a free Palestine and an end to the US financial support for Israel’s war on civilians.
