The band Swamp Thing cleaning up their act.
Swamp Thing in the early 1980s.
It’s always an occasion when unpredictable Madison rock band Swamp Thing convenes for one of their rare reunion shows. One thing that is set in stone for this iteration: the group will play their final album, A Cow Come True, in its entirety. Other than that, anything could happen. (Perhaps, an airing of rare songs from the new Downhill EP on Bandcamp?). Opening is Blue County Pistol, a newer Madison band playing an intriguing hybrid of country and shoegaze. The cover charge benefits WORT-FM.
media release: Swamp Thing at the Harmony Bar, 2201 Atwood Ave., on Friday, June 30th at 9pm.
Formed 40 years ago in the marshy mallows of Madison, Swamp Thing reunites to raise funds for WORT and play their second album, A Cow Come True, in its entirety. They will also feature tracks from their first album, Learning to Disintegrate, and some surprises from four decades of synaptic fermentation.
The evening begins with the solo alt country stylings of Blue County Pistol.
The show will also be broadcast LIVE on WORT 89.9 FM and wortfm.org at 9:45pm during Rattlesnake Shake.
$10 cover to support WORT 89.9 FM Community Radio.
