Taste Traditions of Wisconsin: Shifting Gears
Riding a bike is a sure way to fire up your appetite! Join Jesse Gant and Nick Hoffman, the co-authors of Wheel Fever: How Wisconsin Became a Great Bicycling State, as they take guests on a culinary tour of Wisconsin’s bicycling history. Ride with them all the way back to the late 1860s, when “Velocipede Mania” first seized Wisconsin residents. Travel forward through the bicycling-friendly restaurants, hotels, and clubhouses that have populated nearly 150 years of state history. Along the way, learn how wheelmen and wheelwomen helped prepare the foundations for a great bicycling state. A themed dinner will accompany the presentation.
This event is in conjunction with the Wisconsin Historical Museum's exhibition Shifting Gears: A Cyclical History of Badger Bicycling, on display through October 10. "Shifting Gears" is developed in partnership with the History Museum at the Castle in Appleton, Wisconsin.
Advance registration required for this event. Cost to attend is $25/person. Wisconsin Historical Society members receive a 10% discount on ticket price. Call 608-264-6555 to reserve your place.
