Red Mass: Roy Vucino and Hannah Lewis.

Bobby Hussy is a busy guy. When he’s not performing with one of many bands (in this case, the almighty Hussy, playing this show in a four-piece configuration), he’s releasing killer records on his No Coast label. The latest is Kilrush Drive, the new LP from Montreal goth punks Red Mass. Rounding things out are Solid Freex and Ruin Dweller, plus tag team record-spinning from The Real Jaguar and DJ 45 Freakout.

Special FOUR-PIECE version of The Hussy playing for the first time in Madison. Maybe the last. Who knows? Bobby Hussy plays guitar and sings. Heather Hussy plays drums and sings. Tyler 1 plays guitar. Tyler 2 plays Bass. Tyler 2 is Tyler Spatz from Cave Curse, Poney, No Hoax, Afterlifes, ETC. Debut performance in Madison from Red Mass, a long tenured Montreal post-punk institution. NO COAST is proud to present their first LP after 19 vinyl releases previously (Never an LP, always singles and EPs). The band is fronted by Roy Vucino aka Choyce. He has played in seminal Montreal garage punk bands such as Les Sexareenos, PYPY and CPC Gangbangs. He also played guitar/noise on many of Mark Sultan’s (BBQ) albums and acted and co-wrote the music for the canadian headbanger cult movies/tv show FUBAR. He has released countless singles, tapes and EPs. Over the last few years he’s concentrated on collaborations with a wide array of musicians such as Mike Watt, King Khan, Evan Dando and members of the Hot Snakes, the Black Lips and Godspeedyoublackemperor. For fans of Nick Cave, Digital Leather, The Fall, Tuxedomoon.  

Madison skater art-punks Solid Freex feature weird time signatures, odd and jagged transitions, in your face attitude. A family affair, the band is made up of Trin Tran and sons! One of Madison's greatest treasures!For fans of The Didjits, The Spits, The Coachwhips. 

Ruin Dweller: Old-school blackened death metal with some crust and thrash turns from Madison! Features members of Dos Males, Red Museum, Vanishing Kids and Vermillion. For fans of Behemoth, Dissection, Death, Bolt Thrower.

Red Mass is a gathering of artists, musicians and agent provocateurs from around the globe.  Created by Roy Vucino as part of the 'Free Creative Enterprise' TA DA arts collective, its goal is to create punk music and art, in various mediums while incorporating techniques of automatic creation, chaos magic and liberation through art. To do so the Mass forgoes any allegiance to a specific scene, genre or sound. This method of working outside of the classic band format allows the Mass to work with as many international collaborators as it likes regardless of their experience, style or background. The present core of 'Red Mass' is comprised of Roy Vucino and partner Hannah Lewis. Eager to explore new soundscapes and to collaborate with musicians all over the world, the band has amassed more than 100 participating artists and musicians in its ranks. Collaborations with some of our idols, our friends, our family members and with strangers who wanna create something subversive.

The means are the end in order to create freely, nothing is sacred in the sweet blasphemy of our art. In a splintered world, the group sees art and music as a way to bring people closer. It has opened itself to all. As above, so below. We welcome you to the Red Mass.

About Roy Vucino and Hannah Lewis

Vucino has been a staple in the city's punk & experimental scenes as a member of internationally acclaimed garage punk groups CPC Gangbangs, Les Sexareenos and PYPY. He has since begun a commercial career, recording and writing tracks for film, fashion and television companies such as MGM, Saint Laurent Paris, MTV, Playboy, Showcase and Alliance Films. Working on films has allowed Vucino to lead Red Mass through a wide range of musical genres. An innovative guitarist featured on Sub Pop, Warner Bros., Last Gang Records, Swami, Alien8 and In the Red Records, Vucino has also written tracks performed by great artists as Duchess Says and King Khan. This is not to forget his own 100+ releases. You can also catch him acting in the fictional band Nightseeker on the VICELAND/CityTV show FUBAR: Age of Computer. Lewis has written songs performed by notable artists such as Mac Demarco and makes documentary films about the preservation of culture and resources.
