Tom Kastle
District #1 Old Schoolhouse, Mount Horeb 110 N. Second St., Madison, Wisconsin 53572
press release: Tom Kastle is as interesting as he is talented. He has one foot in the modern singer/songwriter world and the other planted in the traditional maritime realm where he is a shanty and ballad singer and a tall ship captain. Tom has sailed and sung his way around the world, entertaining audiences with his compositions and performance skills. As comfortable on concertina as on 6 and 12 string guitars and tenor banjo, Tom is a versatile singer/songwriter whose work has brought praise from activist singers such as Holly Near. His ballad “Whose House” perfectly encapsulates the 2011 uprising in Madison and poignantly celebrates the progressive actions of we, the people. Bryan Bowers wrote of Tom, "What do you say about a guy who can command a tall ship and all her crew, whose songs can make an Irishman cry tears of pure Tullamore Dew?" We say, thanks for including your sizable talents for this benefit.
Southwest Wisconsin Area Progressives (SWWAP) and the Farley Center will host the concert. $10 ($8 adv.)
