Does Spot have spots he shouldn’t? Is Fido filthy after a roll in your compost pile? Well, not to worry! As a fundraiser for the Humane Society of Jefferson County, volunteers at Tyranena Brewing Company will be washing dirty dogs on Saturday, June 27….And they’ll be doing it “dirt cheap”!
The 10th Annual Tyranena Dog Wash fundraiser, sponsored and hosted by the Lake Mills brewery, will take place from 12 to 3 pm, outdoors behind their brewing facility at 1025 Owen Street. The event is rain or shine. Each wash is $15.00 and includes a complimentary beer or soda. Nail trimming, courtesy of the Lake Mills Veterinary Clinic, is available for an additional $5 when purchased with a wash. Cash or checks are accepted at the door; credit card purchases can be made (in advance only) via the event’s ticketing website: https://2015-tyranena-dogwash.eventbrite.com. Net proceeds from the event will be donated to the Humane Society of Jefferson County.
“Over the past 9 years, we’ve been able to raise almost $12,000 for one of our favorite, local charities with just a little bit of soap and water and a lot of elbow grease,” says Stacey Schraufnagel, Tyranena’s event coordinator. “On average, each year, we wash between 75 and 100 dogs… and we’d love to scrub even more!”
New at this year’s event, Doyle’s Dogs, also of Lake Mills, will be on hand at the brewery selling their “Best Dressed Dogs in Town”. The Chicago-style hot dog vendor also plans to donate a portion of sales during the Dog Wash to the Humane Society of Jefferson County.
This year’s Dog Wash corresponds with Lake Mills’ annual Town & Country Days, a celebration that includes a parade and carnival among other festivities. “Even if you’re not from Lake Mills, join us! It’s the perfect weekend to bring your family, including the furry members, out to visit our beautiful little city,” Schraufnagel states. “Take a walk on the Glacial Drumlin Trail by Rock Lake, with a leash of course. Enjoy the parade, which includes a costumed-dog competition, and then come to the brewery for a wash, a nail trim, a hot dog and a tasty beverage. Everyone is welcome.”
