Wisconsin Department of Transportation Meeting
to
Kromrey Middle School, Middleton 7009 Donna Drive, Middleton, Wisconsin 53562
press release: The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will hold a public meeting to review the Draft Wisconsin State Freight Plan, on Tuesday, October 18, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., at Kromrey Middle School, 7009 Donna Drive, Middleton. This is one of five public meetings being held statewide to give people an opportunity to learn about the draft plan and provide feedback on the content. The meeting facility is both wheelchair and transit accessible.
Enhancing freight mobility is a top priority for WisDOT. Wisconsin’s economy is heavily dependent on the movement of freight for agriculture, forestry, mining, manufacturing and other key industries. Goods may be transported by truck, train, boat, airplane or pipeline. The purpose of the freight plan is to develop one cohesive vision for an integrated and multimodal freight network. The draft plan is available on the department’s website at wisconsinfreightplan.gov.
The final plan will include these key elements:
· Link transportation investments to economic development activities
· Place Wisconsin within a national and global context
· Engage and reflect the interests of a wide array of freight stakeholders
· Implementation – from planning to project development to programming
· Performance measures and management
Public involvement is a critical component of WisDOT’s freight transportation planning process. Input from these outreach sessions will be incorporated into the final freight plan. Any person planning to attend one of these informational meetings who requires an interpreter or American Sign Language interpreter should notify WisDOT two business days before the meeting date by emailing freightplan@dot.wi.gov or calling (608) 266-9476.
People unable to attend a meeting may provide input by: Email: freightplan@dot.wi.gov; Mail: WisDOT Bureau of Planning and Economic Development, PO Box 7913, Madison, WI 53707-7913; or phone: (608) 266-9476
