Wisconsin Department of Transportation Public Meeting

press release: The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Southwest Region will hold a public involvement meeting to discuss a pavement rehabilitation project on US 51 (Stoughton Road) at the Madison Beltline interchange. The meeting will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Monona Community Center located at 1011 Nichols Road, Monona, WI 53716.   

This project includes patching, joint repairs, guardrail replacement, minor grading, milling and an asphaltic overlay on Stoughton Road from just north of Voges Road to north of Broadway Street.  The majority of the rehabilitation work is expected to occur at night involving various lane, shoulder and turning movement closures.  To lessen the impacts to weekday commuter traffic and expedite the schedule, two separate weekend closures of the Beltline and Stoughton Road interchange are proposed.  A signed detour will be used throughout the project.  The proposed work is scheduled for construction in the summer of 2016.   

The purpose of the meeting is to present the preliminary plans for the project, discuss the project schedule, and gather public input.  Any comments that may be of interest to the project design team are welcome including persons with a concern or knowledge about archaeological sites.  

The meeting will be organized in an open-house format and interested persons are invited to stop by at their convenience.  A formal presentation about the project will take place at 6:00pm.  Representatives from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and Ayres Associates (design consultant) will be available to discuss project details, address comments, and answer questions.  Displays showing the proposed project will be available for viewing.
