World Water Day
press release: The public is invited to join the Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District for a special World Water Day program about the District’s water reclamation, wetland restoration, and sustainable infrastructure efforts.
Learn about the work to restore 140 acres of wetlands and create high quality habitat that today hosts more than 200 bird and waterfowl species. Participants may also tour the district’s new LEED Platinum certified Maintenance Facility and the struvite harvesting plant, which removes phosphorus from the wastewater stream for shipment out of the watershed.
Check-in for the optional tour starts at 5:15 p.m. with presentations beginning at 6:30 p.m.
