UP: Central Park. The east-side park that has been in the works for a decade could finally see construction later this year, after a consultant presented plans for the first phase to the city. "It's exciting to get this far," east-side Ald. Marsha Rummel tells the Wisconsin State Journal. "Thinking that we're coming to a point where we're actually starting construction almost seems unreal."
DOWN: The 100 Block Foundation. The cards are stacking up against developers, led by Jerome Frautschi and Pleasant Rowland, who want to demolish five buildings in the 100 block of State Street to build a modern glass and stone office building. City staff oppose the plans, and this week Ald. Mike Verveer, who represents the district, said he could not support the demolition of a historic landmark.
