The Madison mail carrier is hailed as a "hero" by police for alerting them that an 84-year-old woman on his route atypically failed to unlock her door for five straight days or take out her trash, though her car was in the driveway. Spaude said he finally made the call, "not wanting to find out later that she was there or she died." She was there, lying on the floor for days after a tumble but rescued in time.
DOWN: UW-Madison. What happens when MTV gives cameras to four freshmen to record their experiences? They make fools of themselves on national television. The new series College Life was launched this week, as campus brass sought to disassociate the UW from the callow, soused, licentious behavior it documents. "Mom," says one lad, "I promise I'll get C's, I'll pass." Imagine how proud she must be.
