UP: Edgewater Hotel. The project that just about everyone figured was kaput rises from the dead when developer Bob Dunn announces he has found private financing to make up for the city funding that Mayor Paul Soglin cut. "We want to get this done," Dunn tells the Wisconsin State Journal. "We think it's a landmark project that will have a lasting impact for generations to come."
DOWN: The Chris Farley Foundation. Tom Farley, brother of the late comedian Chris, announces that he is closing the charity he founded in 1998 after Chris died of a drug overdose. Tom Farley discouraged drug use by giving presentations at schools, but in recent years funding has dropped off. And Tom, after dabbling in local politics, is moving to Iowa next month to take a new job. "After losing a couple elections here, you realize that people don't necessarily want your impact," he says.
