UP: Gov. Scott Walker. Waukesha County Circuit Judge J. Mac Davis rules that the state's Government Accountability Board must "apply sound judgment and discretion" in weeding out potential fake names on recall petitions. The GAB had earlier stated that it would only verify addresses and that it was up to targeted politicians to challenge names like Hitler and Bugs Bunny. GAB director Kevin Kennedy says he plans to ask the Legislature for more money to handle the recall effort.
DOWN: Gov. Scott Walker. After an almost two-year John Doe investigation, one of Walker's longtime aides is arrested and charged with embezzling money from veterans' groups. While Walker has not been accused of wrongdoing - and in fact, one of his staff members first alerted authorities about the missing cash - the news can't be good for Walker as he gets ready to face a recall challenge.
