UP: Lamp House. Madison's Common Council accepted a committee report on Frank Lloyd Wright's Lamp House, 22 N. Butler St., and will consider adding it to the city's Downtown Plan. The report recommends allowing development on the block, provided it preserves some views of the house from the street and protects views of Lake Mendota from the house.
DOWN: Gov. Scott Walker. Thousands of emails from a secret account released last week reveal how Walker's staff -- while he was Milwaukee County executive -- campaigned for him on county time. The emails show Walker's staff making racist jokes, using profanity and calling for the firing of a doctor who once modeled underwear. The emails also suggest that Walker knew about the secret system. The governor has subsequently drawn heat for dodging questions about the scandal.
