UP: Madison schools. CUNA Mutual Group promises $1.2 million to the Madison school district to start "Forward Madison," a teacher training and mentor program. Starting this fall, the grant will provide mentoring to 150 new teachers for three years. CUNA's Steve Goldberg tells the Wisconsin State Journal: "We liked the idea of helping students succeed by helping their teachers succeed. This will also attract a workforce that reflects more completely the demographics of the students they are teaching."
DOWN: Uber, Lyft. Madison City Attorney Michael May warns the ride-sharing services that they need to comply with the city's taxi regulations or face enforcement penalties. Madison Police Chief Mike Koval tells the Wisconsin State Journal: "There absolutely could be enforcement now, given this gauntlet that's been thrown down."
