UP: State Department of Natural Resources. The DNR sold 319 pounds of illegally harvested ginseng root it confiscated a year ago in an online auction last week, netting $269,750. Courtney Ripp, DNR's wild ginseng specialist, tells the Wisconsin State Journal: "All proceeds from the sale go back into the DNR for the management, education and enforcement of the wild ginseng program."
DOWN: David Deininger. The Associated Press reports that Gov. Scott Walker wants to replace Judge David Deininger on the board of the state's Government Accountability Board. Deininger, a former Republican lawmaker first appointed in 2008, led the board during Walker's recall election last year. Walker is asking the Senate to fill the seat with Harold Froehlich, an 81-year-old retired Outagamie County judge. Interesting tidbit: Froehlich was one of six Republicans on the U.S. House's Judiciary Committee who voted in favor of impeaching President Richard Nixon.
