In his proposed 2014 budget, Dane County Executive Joe Parisi restores $95,000 in funding for the center, which informs renters and landlords about the law and advocates for tenant rights. In her budget proposal, Lynn Green, executive director of the county's human services department, had suggested cutting the center's county funds, which make up 40% of its budget.
DOWN: Solar energy. Wisconsin's Public Service Commission suspended for the remainder of the year incentives for homeowners who install solar electric and solar hot water technology. It's the second time in three years the state's Focus on Energy program has suspended funding for solar technology. State Rep. Chris Taylor (D-Madison) says in a statement: "Republicans cannot claim to support private businesses and job creation while creating public policies that generate instability in the renewable marketplace."
