UP: Voters. Dane County Judge David Flanagan issues a temporary injunction preventing the state from enforcing its new photo ID law during the April 3 election. He calls the law "extremely broad and largely needless," adding that "irreparable harm is likely to occur in the absence of an injunction." Conservatives immediately question Flanagan's impartiality since the judge signed the petition to recall Gov. Scott Walker.
DOWN: Gogebic Taconite. After the state Senate fails to pass legislation that would streamline mining regulations on behalf of Gogebic Taconite, the company's president, Bill Williams, says it is dropping plans for a $1.5 billion iron mine in northern Wisconsin. The Senate, Williams says, "sent a clear message that Wisconsin will not welcome iron mining. We get the message."
