The Dane County Board's executive committee approves an external audit of the 911 Center's operating procedures, staffing levels and call data. The center has been under fire for not responding to a call received from Brittany Zimmermann's cell phone on the day she was murdered.

The UW Board of Regents approves Carolyn "Biddy" Martin as UW-Madison's next chancellor and, in a closed-door meeting, votes to pay her $437,000. Martin's salary is $110,000 more than current Chancellor John Wiley's salary. The board also votes to give UW System President Kevin Reilly a $72,000 raise, to $414,600. Relax: That's still far less than their weight in gold, now about $870 an ounce.

Madison Mayor Dave Cieslewicz names Tom Heikkinen the new general manager for Madison Water Utility. Heikkinen, 40, has been chief of plant operations for the Suburban Sanitary Commission in Washington, D.C., since 2004.
Dane County Judge Dan Moeser rules that Ee Lee, 24, is competent to stand trial. Lee is accused of killing her six-week-old infant last summer. She has been at Winnebago Health Institute, receiving treatment for mental illness.

Severe storms across southern Wisconsin spawn several small tornados, including in Stoughton, Marshall and Cottage Grove. Torrential rains flood streets, wash out bridges, and breach the shoreline of Lake Delton in Wisconsin Dells, destroying four houses as the artificial lake drains. In Stoughton, high winds damage Christ Lutheran Church, which was just rebuilt after being destroyed by fire in 2005.

A town of Windsor home explodes, seriously injuring Judith Merry, 58, who was home at the time. The cause is under investigation.
Kristy Kaltenberg, 26, is sentenced to six months in jail for running an unlicensed day care in her east-side Madison home. Last summer, a 4-month-old girl died in her home of accidental suffocation when she was placed face-down to nap. Kaltenberg was never charged with a crime related to the death.
The Board of Estimates rejects a proposal to make full wraps on 20 Madison Metro buses permanent. The committee instead votes to allow half-wraps or partial wraps, which don't cover the windows. The Common Council must now vote on the matter.
6.10 Tuesday
A Madison mother working as a prostitute is charged with not stopping the sexual assault of her 6-year-old daughter. Police say the woman allowed 84-year-old Robert Marek, of Madison, to molest her child, then tried to extort money from him. Marek has been charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child.
