Last Friday, the weekly email from mayoral spokesman George Twigg that includes this schedule arrived with this note: "As always, our office eagerly awaits Jason Joyce's exegesis on this week's mayoral schedule."
As always, I'm glad to oblige, but "exegesis?" That's a big word for a web/sports dork with a public education like myself. I was driven to the well-worn American Heritage Dictionary that sits on my desk for a definition.
"Critical interpretation or explanation of a text" is what it says, which I guess kind of describes this weekly exercise. But that job is made a helluva lot harder when Mayor Dave Cieslewicz is scheduled to spend over half the week in Los Angeles, as he will this week.
As a service to the mayor, however, allow me to offer the following, errrr, exegesis on the menu of the Original Pantry Café, a truly legendary breakfast institution in downtown L.A.: The steak and eggs are unlike any you'll ever have.
