The photo of Bill Bradlee and David Kroodsma on their website, rideforclimate.com, shows them to be vibrant, fresh-faced young men looking forward to an incredible journey. And why not? The duo is riding, literally, around the country to "promote energy efficiency, renewable energy, and other solutions to global warming that will give America and the world a better future."
As the site's map indicates, they left from Boston on April 21 and will arrive in Madison on Thursday, when they'll be joined by Mayor Dave Cieslewicz, presumably for a decent number of miles. They're also slated to appear at the UW Red Gym at noon and at REI near West Towne at 7 p.m.
If any of us run into them, they'll probably still appear cheery and full of life. But they're only like an eighth of the way to completing their ride, and they've traveled through some pretty populous regions of the country. Fast forward to August, when they'll be crossing the Rockies and truly feeling the effects of global warming, if you know what I mean.
