Mayor Dave Cieslewicz is anti-business, his detractors like to shout. Talk radio hosts plead for people to realize just how anti-business he is and how he likes to side with Progressive Dane's social agenda against business at every opportunity. Heck, mayoral candidate Ray Allen's first radio ads say "Lately, our business climate is weakening."
So are his critics right or wrong in this area? You could make the argument either way based purely on this week's schedule, when the mayor will visit with Mark Bugher of the Economic Development Commission on Monday, visit two businesses on Tuesday and hold a "breakfast with business" at the Madison Club on Thursday.
In devoting this amount of attention to business, is the mayor proving his critics wrong, or is he reacting to that criticism? Either way, it's a pretty good guess that the detractors won't change their tune.
