Imagine our surprise when we scanned the mayor's schedule this week and found a reference to his having lunch with a guy named Chris Fortune this Wednesday. Now admittedly, we probably spend way too much time reading the sports section, but isn't Chris Fortune the name of one of these totes who offer, for a healthy fee, advice on how to bet on college and pro football each week.
What's up, Mayor Dave? Are you trying to get an edge with your bookie? Need a little inside information to assist with the over-unders? Wondering when you should lay the points on a double-digit spread against a road dog?
Okay, as it turns out, Chris Fortune is actually the president of Saris Cycling Group, the Madison-based company that makes those slick Bones bike racks. Since taking over Saris in 1992, the company's products have won international acclaim for quality and design. Madison should be proud to have companies like Saris around.
Still, wouldn't it be a little more interesting if Mayor Dave were a huge gambler? No?
