The centerpiece of the mayor's week is obviously Saturday night, when his entire constituency will see if his plan for controlling the annual Halloween chaos works or not. The timing could not be better for those anticipating a heated mayoral election next spring, as the political energy of this community will quickly shift once the general election is out of the way Nov. 7.
Certainly, if things don't go well on State St. (or Langdon... or Mifflin), then Ray Allen will have his first opening for a shot at Dave Cieslewicz. If it turns out that Freakfest is a safe, non-violent success, then it will look pretty good on Mayor Dave's resume. Either way, his office's handling of what has become one of the most anticipated dates of the year will have a lot to do with how his first term will be defined.
