These warnings are reiterated in a statement from the Dane County Sheriff's Office. "Road conditions are deteriorating with whiteout conditions at times, icy roads and blowing and drifting snow," notes the agency. "Deputies have responded to numerous slide-offs and crashes this morning, and are asking drivers to restrict their travel if at all possible. If you must travel, be prepared for extremely treacherous conditions."
Numerous schools, churches, and business are closed today, flights at the Dane County Regional Airport are being delayed and canceled, and the status of events continues to shift as the storm progresses. Some 20 counties in south central, southeast and east central Wisconsin are expected to take the brunt of the storm.
