After World War III, three new nations square off in a regional war over mineral resources. The dominant military weapons are called Hounds, and the player is a mercenary Hound pilot, deciding which side to take in the high-tech slugfest. In a unique twist, the single-player campaign - a collection of 50 or so mini-missions - is nothing more than a lengthy tutorial for the game's extensive online component.
When you log onto Xbox Live, you'll have to cooperate with fellow geeks to form six-person teams, which will be pitted against each other as part of the war between the three states. As you win battles - everything from capture-the-flag to last-man-standing missions - you'll unlock new components and secure more territory for your country. Eventually one country will win the war, the server will reset and the entire war will start over again, meaning that you could be in for months and months of online fun.
