In this raunchy Southern tale, a God-fearing bluesman (Samuel L. Jackson) tries to heal a wild and troubled young woman (Christina Ricci). The film is deliberately outrageous and stereotypical, but director Craig Brewer and his actors invest these representations with everything they have.
