"All the benders showed up to rock the house," declared Rodney Clark following a circuit-bending showcase on Thursday, June 28 at the Klinic Bar & Grill. Clark, the maestro behind the Madison-based Tiger Claw Records, gathered six circuit-benders from around the Midwest to demonstrate and perform their improvised electronic music.
Numerous live videos from the showcase follow below, including a pair shot by and featuring the La Crosse-based bender one and two), Spunky Twoofers (parts one and two), Crème Dementia (parts one, two, and three), Steve Glitch (parts one, two, and three), and Roth Mobot (parts one and two). "I'm glad to have made it through the whole process," declared the Martian after the showcase. "Like I said, every set is a new adventure, and man do I love it!!!! Bend Bend Bend the World!"
The first clip from Igloo Martian features the opening minutes of his set at the Park Street venue.
The second portion of Igloo Martian's performance can be viewed here; it ends with the host noting that the bender sported "one of the most unusual rigs I've ever seen in a music setup."
This is the second major circuit-bending event in Madison in the last month. The second week of June saw a workshop at Café Montmartre's Sidecar in advance of a show at the venue by benders Beatrix*Jar of Minneapolis and Amy X Neuburg of Oakland. Photos and video from the event can be found here.
"It was great to sit around and talk to all the benders," concluded Clark about the summer showcase last Thursday. "Overall I give the show an 11 out of 10. That's no overstatement. Everyone had kick-butt gear and mean sets."
