Thanksgiving is the most American of holidays, its story central to the national mythology and consequently the subject of countless elementary school arts-and-crafts lessons. How did it really get started, though? The origins of the harvest festival are tackled by Wis-Kino 2007 Fall Kabaret last month in anticipation of the upcoming holiday.
"We walked into St. Vinny's to buy some costumes for another video we were making," explains Sloan, "and we saw a table full of Thanksgiving-related knick-knacks and decorations. After about 15 seconds of discussion, we had our concept and scooped the contents of the table into our cart."
The result was Celebrity Bric-a-Brac Theatre. The voices of the holiday tchotchkes -- including Sean Connery, John Madden, Christopher Walken, and George W. Bush -- were all provided by Jason Stephens, the co-founder of Their very special episode follows. Sloan and Yonda are continuing to create short videos for Super Deluxe, and recently completed one titled CSI: North Pole, which will be released shortly as part of the online network's holiday collection. Meanwhile, the Monkey Business Institute performs every Friday night at 8 p.m. in the Coliseum Bar just off John Nolen Drive. Have a Happy Turkey Day!
