Madison's quintet of crunk comedians known as the Public Drunkards are back with two new videos this week, both entertainingly crass riffs on pop culture characters both classic and cockeyed.
"When there's a medical emergency in the Mushroom Kingdom, there's only one man to turn to," is the introduction to the first, which, of course, is titled Dr. Mario.
This four-minute sketch, replete with references to Goombas and Starman power-ups, follows, along with a second, more salacious video clip.
The second clip is a trailer for a sequel to the 2006 children's film A Night at the Museum, albeit a film about the post-closing goings-on in a sex shop. Titled A Night at the Porn Store, this sketch is set in Four Star Video Heaven.
The Public Drunkards most recently performed last Saturday, opening for the Box Social at Club 770. Their next show is scheduled for Thursday, May 24, at the King Club, where Vol. 1 of their compilation DVD should be available for fans looking for their own copy of the troupe's comedy shorts.
