Feed the Fish: A twitchy Venice Beach children's-book author (Ross Partridge) flees writer's block and a shrewish fiancée to snowbound Door County, where he meets a friendly waitress (Katie Aselton). Some of writer-director Michael Matzdorff's choices are a little pat, but the romantic leads are marvelous, as are performances by Barry Corbin and Tony Shalhoub.
The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest: A virtuous journalist (Michael Nyqvist) chips away at the conspiracy that has brutalized his goth-hacker friend and sometime lover (Noomi Rapace). The capper to the Dragon Tattoo trilogy brings into focus this sprawling, arresting saga, perhaps the cinematic event of 2010.
