Funny Games: Michael Haneke's shot-by-shot remake of his 1997 chiller-thriller is, if anything, even more disturbing than the original, where a couple (Naomi Watts and Tim Roth) and their young son are terrorized by intruders (Michael Pitt and Brady Corbet). Haneke is trying to get us to choke on our lust for cinematic violence, and he largely succeeds while, at the same time, disturbing the hell out of us.

The Other Boleyn Girl: Two sisters (Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson) compete for the love of King Henry VIII (Eric Bana). The film impressively evokes the court's conniving atmosphere, and the pairing of Johansson and Portman is inspired.
