Haywire: A globetrotting operative (MMA fighter Gina Carano) beats up men (Ewan McGregor, Michael Fassbender) and seeks the truth in Steven Soderbergh's action thriller. The storytelling verges on incomprehensible, but Carano is a lovely, lively screen presence.
Joyful Noise: Singers (Queen Latifah, Dolly Parton) squabble as their gospel choir competes on a national circuit. Some of the music is good, but this backstage musical is done in by too many dull characters and silly subplots.
