The Madison Area Builders Association is sponsoring its first green-built makeover project at the home of Hazel Tookes, 714 E. Dayton St. The project kicked off Sept. 4, and the remodel is slated to take two months. In addition to improving Tookes' home, the project is aimed at educating the public about green remodeling options. Some of these include air sealing and insulation, low-emission cabinetry, a solar collection system for a new heating and air conditioning system, new windows and doors, and more. An open house and tour of Tookes' home will take place after the makeover; watch www.greenbuilthome.org for details.
