Despite its recent successes, the UW Cinematheque is faced with funding cuts. Programming director Jim Healy says he hopes the program can raise at least $30,000 in individual donations by the end of the year.
"Today, monumental changes in the world of motion picture exhibition are affecting repertory film programs around the world," he says. "This, combined with an extraordinary economic downturn that has affected our state and nation, requires the support of our audiences and cinephiles."
Tax-deductible donations can be made online at uwfoundation.wisc.edu. In the designation field, select "other." In the information field, be sure to write "Friends of Film Fund."
"We are confident that all friends of the Cinematheque will help us meet this challenge and keep cinema alive and well in Madison," says Healy.
