Freakfest, the annual Halloween extravaganza on State Street, enjoyed its best lineup yet this year. Indie rockers Matt and Kim and hip-hop artist Chiddy Bang headlined the show, which featured four stages of music over five hours.
Stretching from Library Mall to Capitol Square, it is one of the largest Halloween parties in the Midwest and one of the highlights of the year for UW-Madison students. Creative costumes, packed bars, crowd-surfing audiences, and a varied music lineup are to be expected, and this year's crowd, estimated at 20-25,000, included revelers dressed as Legos, bananas, Minecraft characters and more than a few Walter Whites.
