Chanticleer
media release: Founded in 1978 in San Francisco, Chanticleer has become one of the most enduring, prolific and well-known early music ensembles in the US today. Originally formed with a mission to address the lack of recordings of Renaissance vocal music, the a cappella choir has expanded its reach to include modern classical, gospel, jazz, and pop music. With crystalline voices, precision blending, and impeccable musicianship, Chanticleer makes music of the past shine like new and makes music of the present hold the gravitas of the classics. This evening’s program, titled Music of a Silent World, centers around a new arrangement of Majel Connery’s The Rivers Are Our Brothers and gives voice to the trees, the rivers, and other voiceless elements of our natural world. The program also explores what the world might be like without them.
