Wisconsin Vinyl Collective: Vol. 3 (LP release)
With Michael Perry & the Long Beds, The Mascot Theory, Bascom Hill, Lost Lakes.
High Noon Saloon 701A E. Washington Ave., Madison, Wisconsin 53703
Record Store Day has included a local music component for the last three seasons, thanks to Wisconsin Vinyl Collective co-founders Erik Kjelland and Butch Vig. Volume Three, available at local stores Saturday and at the release show, includes music by Michael Perry (pictured) & the Long Beds, Bascom Hill and Lost Lakes, who are all playing the Madison release show, along with The Mascot Theory (of which Kjelland is a member). The project is a benefit for the Keep Wisconsin Warm/Cool Fund.
press release: For the third year in a row, the Keep Wisconsin Warm/Cool Fund will benefit from the efforts of a group of committed Wisconsin musicians who are providing new recordings and playing live shows to raise money for a fund that helps Wisconsinites in need keep the heat on.
The Wisconsin Vinyl Collective Volume Three album officially drops on Record Store Day — April 13, 2019 — but a quartet of album release shows starts on Thursday, April 11, and runs through Sunday, April 14.
The vinyl album — it’s a limited run, so grab one while you can — consists of previously unreleased recordings from Wisconsin artists including: Michael Perry and the Long Beds (of Big Top Chautauqua fame); Bascom Hill (you’ve heard their music on MTV’s The Real World); Kerosene Kites; Derek Pritzl and the Gamble; Lost Lakes; Madison Malone; Christopher Gold; The Belle Weather; LASKA; and Craig Baumann feat. OSG.
Perry, by the way, is also well known as a New York Times bestselling author, humorist, singer/songwriter, and intermittent pig farmer.
There will be shows in Viroqua, Appleton, Madison and Milwaukee. All shows will be headlined by Michael Perry and the Long Beds; regional bands The Mascot Theory and Bascom Hill also will play all four shows. Each show will feature a guest opening artist from their area of the state: LASKA (Viroqua), Christopher Gold (Appleton), Lost Lakes (Madison), and Craig Baumann (Milwaukee).
Proceeds from the sale of the album go to the Keep Wisconsin Warm/Cool Fund, a statewide nonprofit charity that assists low-income households who cannot afford to pay their energy bills. Albums will be available at most indie record stores in Wisconsin, as well as select stores across the country.
