CamRock Café & Sport
CamRock rents cross-country skis, snowshoes and a snow bike.
CamRock Café & Sport in Cambridge reopened in early December under the new ownership of Sherie and Derek Nelson. The combo restaurant/bar/music venue/equipment rental space continues, with 90 craft brews (bottles, no taps) on hand, says Derek. The menu sticks to tacos (including breakfast and veggie) and grilled sandwiches, with some salads, soups and appetizers. Friday nights the cafe holds events like wine or beer tastings; Saturday it hosts live music.
CamRock also rents cross-country skis and snowshoes, and it's within spitting distance of the start of the county trail that runs through CamRock County Park along Koshkonong Creek to Rockdale, flirting along the way with the park's units 1, 2, and 3, which provide more side trails of varying difficulty. This map (PDF) shows the lay of the land; CamRock Café is located at the top of the map, at 217 West Main St., at the corner of West Water Street (Cty. Rd. PQ).
Nelson also has one snow bike available for rental and more, he plans, are on the way. Bikers can take the main trails or "blaze their own," says Nelson. Right now the ski and snowshoe trails are groomed "and in really good shape."
CamRock Café is open 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Mon.-Thurs, 7 a.m.-10 p.m. Fri.-Sat., and 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Sun. Updates about special events and other offerings can be found on its Facebook and Twitter accounts.
