Sophia's Bakery and Cafe, the tiny weekend-only breakfast spot beloved by those dedicated enough to wait for a table, is now open Thursday and Friday evenings for dinner from 5-9 p.m. Reservations are not accepted.
A limited and changing menu usually features a meat and a vegetarian entree, and often a sandwich and salad and one or two soups, plus homemade bread and desserts. Prices range from about $8-$14.
The dinners started up about three weeks ago, but took a hiatus for Thanksgiving week. Back in the 1990s, Sophia's did serve lunch and dinner, but has been a breakfast-only cafe for most of the 2000s.
Sophia's does not have a liquor license, but customers are welcome to bring their own. -- and if they forget, the Cork 'n Bottle is a close neighbor.
Note: Sophia's is not allowed to let patrons bring their own alcohol.
