Milwaukee police recover a $5 million Stradivarius violin that had been stolen in January from Frank Almond, concertmaster of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, who was mugged with a stun gun after a performance. The instrument, made in 1715, is undamaged. Two men have been charged.

Dane County Clerk Scott McDonell -- named a defendant in a lawsuit seeking to overturn Wisconsin's same-sex marriage ban -- announces he's looking into the legality of switching sides to support overturning the law. Milwaukee County Clerk Joe Czarnezki also supports the lawsuit.

Wisconsin Club for Growth files a federal lawsuit trying to end a secret investigation into alleged illegal campaigning by conservative groups in five counties during the 2011 and 2012 recall elections. The lawsuit alleges that the investigation is politically motivated.

The state Assembly approves Gov. Walker's plan to cut income and property taxes by $504 million, rejecting attempts by Democrats to use some of that money for job training. The Senate now takes up the plan, and Republican senators have said they'd like to shift more funds to a savings plan.
Madison Memorial High School principal Bruce Dahmen dies in Knoxville while watching one of his former students, Jeronne Maymon, play basketball for the University of Tennessee. Dahmen had worked at Memorial for more than two decades, including as a teacher and coach.
UW-Madison announces it has regained the number-one ranking for recruits in the Peace Corps, with 90 alumni currently serving.
