Lamontez White, 30, is shot and killed in his Fish Hatchery Road apartment. No arrests are made, but police do not believe it was a random killing.

Jason Wilcox, 43, is killed inside a residence on Morraine View Drive on the west side. Madison Police later arrest three men -- Manford White, Anthony White and Tavon Meyers -- and expect to charge them each with first-degree homicide.

Dominic Raiola, offensive lineman for the Detroit Lions, takes his position title literally by shouting insults at the UW marching band during warmups for the NFL game against the Packers at Lambeau Field. The Packers win the game 22-9. Raiola later apologizes and offers a financial donation to the band.
