UW-Madison awards a rare posthumous doctorate to Craig Schuff, a graduate student who was paralyzed in a diving accident in 2011 and died last October, the Wisconsin State Journal reports. The university has awarded only one other posthumous graduate degree.

Madison’s finance committee unanimously recommends Beitler Real Estate Services of Chicago for the redevelopment of Judge Doyle Square. Beitler’s $170 million plan has less public cost for parking, and its lease of city land generates more revenue than its competitor.
