Dane County Court Commissioner Ann Sayles bans Katherine Windels, 26, from the state Capitol and using the Internet, except for work or school. Windels was charged on March 31 with sending email threats to 15 Republican state senators. She is due back in court on May 15.

Dane County Executive Joe Parisi announces the county will use up to $270,000 in grants - from the state departments of Transportation and Natural Resources - to design an off-road bicycle/pedestrian trail from the end of the Capital City Trail to the beginning of the Glacial Drumlin Trail.
Wisconsin Public Radio releases the results of a poll showing a majority of residents believe Gov. Scott Walker's "budget-repair bill" is more about decreasing union power than balancing the budget.

Lori Kasten, 45, who killed an 11-year-old girl in 1996 in a drunk-driving accident, is charged with operating while intoxicated after UW Police find her allegedly revving her engine in an attempt to free her car from a curb it was stuck on.

The city of Madison files an injunction in Dane County Circuit Court seeking to close the Expo Inn on the Beltline for drug abatement. Between March 24, 2007, and last Dec. 31, the city alleges, there were 1,080 calls to police from the hotel.
In efforts to recall two state Democratic senators - Fred Risser of Madison and Lena Taylor of Milwaukee - organizers miss their deadline to file. State officials are currently reviewing signatures for the recall of five Republican and three Democratic senators.
Bettsey Barhorst, president of Madison College, announces that she'd like to have the same "relief from the same bureaucratic obstacles to our operations" as the UW-Madison is seeking in a controversial plan to separate from the statewide system. Wouldn't we all?

About 100 UW-Madison students rally in Bascom Hall against the New Badger Partnership, which would split the Madison campus from the state system. A smaller group of students in favor of the proposal visits legislators' offices in the Capitol.
Recall campaigns against two more Democratic Senators, Mark Miller and Spencer Coggs, miss their filing deadlines, but another group pursuing a recall against Miller has until May 4 to file.

Officials begin recounting votes in the election for Supreme Court, in which Justice David Prosser leads challenger JoAnne Kloppenburg by 7,316 votes. The state wants the recount done by May 9.
